For a festival as gloriously bonkers as the Filey Literature Festival, when they were offered a glimpse into the knicker drawer of time, they could hardly refuse.

Filey-lover Janet Stain (and no, it isn’t her stage name), is one of the country’s leading experts on Victorian costumes and underwear.

She brings her exhaustive supply of samples, in a never end suitcase, pair after pair of drawers, bloomers, and knickers of nearly every material and hue. All amply exhibited.
