To remember a booming battle that took place in Filey Bay 244 years ago, join Filey Bay 1779 for a two course meal of bangers & mash plus a delicious desert all prepared by the Filey Sea Cadets.
Join passionate local historian, Catherine Welch, for a walk along the promenade as she brings the stories alive about the many different shipwrecks in Filey Bay.
The annual Sea Cadet parade & service will start off from St Oswald's Church at 2pm and process down the Ravine to the Filey Seafront Promenade, for a short service of remembrance for the men and boys killed in the Battle of Flamborough Head in 1779.
James Davey will be talking about his new book which tells the story in the turbulent years of the 1790s.
As part of the local history month in May, Filey Library are delighted to welcome Yorkshire Coast 1779 to deliver a talk on the battle of Flamborough Head.
