After last year’s barnstorming talk on Butlin’s, Kathryn returns to Filey to present her best selling book, Seaside 100.
Kathryn is one of Britain’s leading seaside historians and has broadcast widely, including on the popular BBC series Coast. Sandcastles, donkeys, piers, sticks of rock, beach huts, paddle steamers, promenade shelters and ice cream cones.
The modern seaside is the sum of its parts and all those parts have their history, this talk unpicks our experience of the seaside through the things that make it distinctive.
