Dr James Davey – Tempest, The Royal Navy and Age of Rebellion

James Davey will be talking about his new book which tells the story in the turbulent years of the 1790s.
As rebellion swept through the fleet, the navy itself became a political battleground. Sailors organised riots, strikes, petitions and mutinies to achieve their goals. These shocking events dominated public discussion, prompting cynical – and sometimes brutal – response from the government.
Included in the ticket price for the talk is a large glass of wine (or beer), cheese & biscuits. There will be a cash bar.
